Is acting an overpaid job?

Editor's note: CCTV has called out some of China's most high-profile actors and actresses for being paid too much money, receiving up to 100 million yuan or 15 million USD for a single movie or TV series. The new State Administration of Press Publication, Radio, Film and Television, the country's media watchdog, vowed stop actors' salary hikes. Is acting an overpaid job? The great majority of actors and actresses are paid very little and some are almost at poverty levels until they might be lucky to get a role. Very few get to be celebrities commanding high box office numbers. It is these few who are paid enormous sums. The situation is the same in football. So many young people trying hard to get noticed and be offered training in a recognized team... and so few make it. Those who succeed are paid outrageous and obscene sums of money.
