Moral dilemmas in love and marriage

There are a lot of lessons to be learned from television. Apart from the usual news and documentaries, there is a new genre of entertainment that gives new meaning to the journalistic principles of "inform, educate and entertain".

These are the reality shows that skate close to grassroots issues such as family, love and marriage.

There is a dedicated channel on national broadcaster CCTV that highlights what is in actual fact the equivalent of family court. Every afternoon, viewers are made privy to the dirtiest family linen. Entire families will air their grievances, brothers against brothers, and sisters against sisters.
